2023: The people agenda
HR teams are essential and need supported, just like other employees in a business. Let's make that happen in 2023, says People & Development Director Rupa Mooker.
Rupa started her legal traineeship with MacRoberts in 2001 and has been a fully qualified employment law solicitor since 2003. She practised exclusively as a solicitor until she became Director of People & Development in May 2017. She is responsible for managing service and support on HR and employment law requirements at an operational and strategic level to the firm’s Partners, managers and employees.
She works closely with the Management Board, Partners and staff on matters such as employee welfare, training and development and compensation and reward to ensure positive employee relations are maintained.
She is the firm’s Equality Lead and also heads up the firm’s Diversity, Wellbeing & Inclusion Forum. Rupa also sits on the Law Society of Scotland’s Equality and Diversity Committee.

How do you create an inclusive culture? Start from where you are, take stock with the help of the people you want to feel included, and move forward from there.
People professionals have a key role in focusing a business on ESG targets, given the issues they deal with that relate to employee wellbeing and motivation, as Rupa Mooker explains.
