Christmas Appeals in Aid of Local Charities
Staff at all of MacRoberts LLP’s offices have been undertaking Christmas appeals in aid of local charities.
The firm’s Glasgow office made their donation to Glasgow SE Foodbank, based in the Govanhill area, on Monday 7 December. The Dundee office made donations to its local foodbank. The Edinburgh office is supporting ForthOne’s Mission Christmas appeal by donating Christmas presents for children aged 0 to 18.
The Appeal was driven by the firm’s volunteer charity fundraising committee, Give Something Mac! (GSM), who this year decided to support a number of smaller local charities chosen based on causes suggested by staff members, rather than having a charity of the year. This change of approach to fundraising enabled GSM to support a variety of causes over the year including ACE RaceRunning, Penumbra, Hopscotch, the Glasgow SE Foodbank, the Dundee Hilltown Foodbank, Kids Love Clothes and ForthOne’s Mission Christmas appeal.
Kirsty Haxby, a senior solicitor at MacRoberts and a member of GSM said on behalf of the committee: “We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone at MacRoberts who took part and are taking part in our Christmas appeals for their incredible kindness and overwhelming generosity. Christmas is a very exciting time of year for many, however, it would be short sighted of us not to think of those living in our communities who are less fortunate and face the seemingly unimaginable prospect of poverty at Christmas. It is with hope that our donations will make a real and positive impact on those individuals and families in crisis”.
- In the 3 weeks leading up to Christmas, Glasgow SE Foodbank will provide over 500 food parcels to local people and their families in crisis.
- The Hilltown Foodbank in Dundee estimates that over 600 men women and children in the local area will need emergency food parcels over the Christmas Period.
- Mission Christmas gives gifts donated by the public to disadvantaged children in Edinburgh, the Lothians and Fife to make their Christmas morning special.
