Rupa joined MacRoberts in 2001 as a trainee solicitor and specialised in employment law when she qualified as a solicitor in 2003. In that role, Rupa advised clients in the public, private and third sectors on all employment law matters including disciplinary proceedings, dismissals, grievances, absence management, redundancy, discrimination, TUPE and executive exits. She also delivered strategic and interactive training seminars and workshops and regularly represented clients in the Employment Tribunal.
Rupa took on the role of MacRoberts Interim HR Director in February 2017 and became Director of HR in May 2017. She is responsible for managing service and support on HR and employment law requirements at an operational and strategic level to the firm’s Partners, managers and employees. She works closely with the Management Board and Partners on matters such as employee welfare and development, compensation and reward and also training to ensure positive employee relations are maintained. She is a lead member of the firm’s Equality and Wellbeing forum and also sits on the Law Society of Scotland’s Equality and Diversity Committee.
Rupa is straightforward and commercial and is described as a “highly reputable, focused and pragmatic legal advisor who approaches her relationship with the business as one of being a partner and not just fee taker” and as having “excellent listening and customer service skills”.
