Karen provides clear guidance in all matters concerning divorce and separation. She has developed experience in negotiating and drafting separation agreements and, where required, pursuing divorce claims through the Sheriff Court or Court of Session.
Karen also advises on wider aspects of family law to include cohabitation claims, and complex nuptial contracts (“pre-nups” and “post-nups”). She frequently acts in cases involving other jurisdictions and has recently advised on cases involving Sharia Law.
Karen’s specialism lies in work relating to adoptions and permanence orders, having had significant experience in acting for both local authorities and prospective adopters. She is therefore able to fully support and advise clients on all stages of the legal process.
Karen has experience in a variety of other areas of child law, to include child residence and contact disputes, child relocation and petitions under the Hague Convention on International Child Abduction. She has also provided advice relating to kinship care, surrogacy, education and guardianship matters.
Karen is a member of the Family Law Association, Scotland, and is a Notary Public.
