Mel advises a wide range of clients from all sectors on a variety of matters including data protection, commercial and IT contracts, anti-bribery and corruption, and intellectual property.
Mel has specialist expertise in data protection and privacy matters, and regularly advises clients in this area. Mel’s experience includes: advising on FOISA; conducting data protection audits and data mapping exercises (across multiple business functions and locations) and preparing compliance reports and recommendations; drafting policies and template documents; providing tailored training; advising on subject access requests and potential personal data breaches; reviewing, drafting and reporting on data processing and sharing arrangements/agreements; preparing privacy notices; and providing bespoke advice on all data protection and direct marketing queries. Mel is also a member of MacRoberts’ internal Information Security group responsible for implementation of ISO27001 security measures within the firm.
In addition, she is a member of our Charities and Third Sector team, and regularly assists third sector clients with branding advice, contracts, and data protection matters (including advising on fundraising practices).
