Our People James Keith


James is a hugely skilled lawyer with really good technical knowledge and a drive to achieve successful outcomes for his clients. He is very collaborative and a skilled negotiator.


James advises on all aspects of pensions law and employee ownership law to trustees, companies, public sector and third sector organisations. He is also a Director of MacRoberts Trustees Limited, which provides independent trustee services.

James is a member of the Association of Pension Lawyers (APL) and has been elected as the Secretary of its Scottish Group and is also a member of the APL’s Public Sector Pensions Sub Committee. He is also a member of The Law Society of Scotland's Pension Law Sub-Committee. James co-authored the Scottish section of Tolley’s Pensions Law a major UK legal textbook with Martyn Shaw (December 2022).

James is ranked for Employee Share Schemes & Incentives and Pensions in the 2023 edition of Chambers UK Guide to the Legal Profession.
