Euan Duncan
PartnerEuan has been advising on intellectual property matters and commercial contracts throughout his career.
He regularly advises on all areas of law relating to intellectual property, technology and media – digital and non-digital, contentious and non-contentious. On a daily basis, Euan is involved with drafting, negotiating and advising on commercial contracts from sale to purchase, distribution to retail and sponsorship to endorsement. In addition, he is focused on helping businesses identify, protect, commercialise and drive value from their intellectual property, including by complex licensing structures.
Euan tutors on Intellectual Property and Commercial Contracts at the University of Strathclyde Law School and is a director of the Scottish Society for Computers and Law and a member of the SCL Media Board. He is also a Director of ADVOC Europe and an ambassador for the Glasgow School of Art Development Trust.
Euan is ranked for Intellectual Property in the 2023 edition of Chambers UK Guide to the Legal Profession. He is also listed in the WTR (World Trademark Review) 1000 and is described by clients as "fantastic for licensing, contracts and pre-litigation negotiation" and "an extremely safe pair of hands".

Nacho Cheese, Cyprus! Another setback for Halloumi in a trademark battle against Grilloumi.
What do you call a cheese that doesn’t belong to you? Nacho cheese!
The classic joke featuring cheese is one that Cyprus will not appreciate after the latest decision of the General Court of the European Union, as the Republic of Cyprus’ latest appeal against the registration of Grilloumi was dismissed. The European Court of Justice rejected Cyprus’ opposition to word mark the word “Grilloumi” and failed to annul the trademark “Grilloumi”, despite holding a Protected Designation of Origin (PDO).
