
Withstanding Negligence Claims: The Importance of Good Governance for Charities
The death of a man in a homelessness facility in Glasgow has highlighted the importance of good governance for charities and third sector organisations.
A Solicitor within the firm's Projects team, Chris advises on a wide range of matters including subsidy control, public procurement and grants.
As a member of the Public Sector team, Chris primarily focuses on working with public sector clients in relation to procurement, governance, public law compliance, devolution issues and legal structures.
Chris is also member of the firm’s Charities & Third Sector group, and regularly advises clients across the third sector in matters of charity law, including the formation of new charities, governance and structural issues. Chris additionally advised in the first successful appeal to Scottish Ministers against conditions set by a Local Authority under a Community Asset Transfer request.
Prior to qualifying into the Projects team in September 2020, Chris joined MacRoberts as a trainee solicitor in 2018 and gained experience within the firm's Private Client, Construction and Employment Law teams.
