For Individuals & Families Separation Agreements

If you are unsure whether you want to divorce or dissolve a civil partnership, a separation agreement could be a good option for you.

What is a separation agreement?

A separation agreement is a written contract that details the financial agreements you will abide by when you stop living together. Separation agreements are legally binding and prevent each party making claims in the event of divorce or death and have consideration as to your financial matters, including division of assets and debts.

They can be a way of giving you peace of mind during a difficult time, while you pause to consider the best way forward for your family whether you are in a marriage, civil partnership, or cohabitation relationship.

What else do I need to consider?

If you are separating from your partner, you should also consider updating your existing Wills, Power of Attorney or pension nominations that include them.
