Christopher Barr is a Trainee Solicitor in MacRoberts' IPTC team.

My journey into the legal profession did not follow the traditional route. I graduated from the University of Glasgow with a Degree in Physiology, whilst working in the telecommunications industry. It was here I developed a strong passion for helping others and gaining a better understanding of commercial problems that had to be overcome.

I decided that a career in the legal industry would complement my skill set and allow me to help others in a more meaningful way. I completed the Graduate Degree at Strathclyde University whilst being an active member of the Law Clinic, then Progressed to the Diploma.

As a mature student, I wanted to work for a firm that shared the same core values and would allow me to develop both as an individual and as a solicitor. MacRoberts LLP was an obvious choice for me as it was somewhere I felt would appreciate my past experiences and invest in my future. I have recently commenced my Traineeship with the firm and have been involved in many interesting tasks already.

I look forward to what the next two years will bring. My advice to anyone thinking about going into a legal career from a non-traditional route is that it is more accessible than you think and it is never too late for change!
