MacRoberts’ Partners David Flint and Val Surgenor are in Austin, Texas, this week for the Annual Meeting of the American Bar Association (ABA) Business Law Section.

During a packed four-day programme, David and Val will be presenting at a number of meetings, as well as networking with fellow lawyers from the United States and internationally.

On Thursday 13th September, David and Val will be attending meetings of the International Business Law and Cyberspace Law Committees. Val will also chair a meeting of the Health IT Task Force, and David will chair a meeting of the Non-US Cyber Regulations Committee.

The following day, David and Val will be speaking at a Programme (co-chaired by David) entitled “The GDPR: Blueprint for a New World Order?”. David will also be taking part in Programmes on Antitrust, Blockchain and Cybersecurity.

Rounding off the week, on Saturday 15th September, David will be participating in a Programme on tackling bias in AI applications.

David and Val are both regular speakers and participants in ABA meetings across the United States. David has been a member of the ABA for over 20 years and has contributed chapters to seven books published by the Section, with several more in the pipeline. Val has also co-edited and authored the UK chapter of the ABA’s Handbook on ‘Global Social Media Law for Business Lawyers‘, which was published in September 2017.
