MacRoberts is delighted that Rod Hutchison, a legal director in the firm’s Corporate Finance team, has been appointed to Aberdeen Renewable Energy Group’s (AREG) Board of Directors.

Established in 2003, AREG is the original energy transition organisation, working on behalf of its membership base to empower the energy supply chain and champion the north east of Scotland to become a world-leading centre of excellence for the production and use of renewable energy.

Rod has particular experience in acting for clients in the energy sector, in the UK and internationally, principally focusing on the acquisition and disposal of company shares or business assets, drafting and negotiating commercial contracts and matters relating to corporate governance. Rod also advises clients on business restructuring, equity investment in private companies and has a solid track record in providing independent advice to management team shareholders on exit.

MacRoberts’ specialist Energy Law team has been involved in a diverse range of energy projects in Scotland and across the UK for over 30 years, with a particular focus on renewable energy development and management. The firm has been involved in a number of high-profile projects in Scotland over the past year, including the 80MW 21-turbine Chirmorie Wind Farm Project in South Ayrshire, battery storage projects at Hunterston and Kincardine and land agreements for the 50MW Cumberhead Wind Farm ahead of its sale to Octopus Renewables Infrastructure Trust plc.

In addition to his appointment to the AREG Board of Directors, Rod is also Chair of AREG’s Professional Service Network.

Rod Hutchison said:

“I am delighted to be joining the AREG Board of Directors and look forward to playing a part in developing a sustainable renewable energy sector in Scotland. I look forward to working with AREG’s growing membership in the transition to net zero and promoting the region as a world-leading centre for excellence, enabling, supporting and promoting local and national renewable projects.”
