MacRoberts is delighted to have advised 20/20 Project Management – the UK’s leading specialist provider of project management training – in becoming the latest Scottish business to announce its transition to employee ownership, with 20 of its employees becoming owners.

Becoming an employee-owned company has been a positive step for 20/20, with the board of directors deciding it was the right move to enable the engagement of the employees to effectively take the business through its long-term goals.

Initially employee ownership was considered as part of 20/20’s succession planning strategy. After founding director Tony Marks attended a succession masterclass run by Cooperative Development Scotland (CDS), the benefits became very apparent and the plans to make it a reality came into action.

The transition to employee ownership was supported by Co-operative Development Scotland (CDS), with the process managed by Ownership Associates, legal services provided by ourselves and accounting services by Campbell Dallas.

Neil Harkin, from 20/20 Project Management, said of the deal:

“It was a great experience working with the MacRoberts team. Their approach was helpful, informative and professional at all times as they guided us seamlessly through the process of establishing the 20/20 Employee Ownership Trust, preparing all the legal documentation for the share purchase and transition to the new ownership structure. Their knowledge and expertise helped us to move through the discussion, drafting and completion of all the necessary documentation within a 4 month timescale and their support and advice was gratefully received.”
