Rupa Mooker, Director of HR at MacRoberts, is delighted to have been appointed to the Law Society of Scotland’s (LSS) Equality and Diversity Committee.

The Committee aims to set, form and guide the policy and actions of the LSS in relation to equality and diversity as well as offer guidance and support to the LSS and identify key priorities and risks. It also provides a forum for debate and best practice on issues of equality and diversity.

Rupa is passionate about equality, diversity and inclusion and is keen, as a Committee member, to utilise her personal experiences as a Scottish Sikh and her professional experience as an employment lawyer and HR Director. She is also MacRoberts’ named Equality Lead and a member of the firm’s Diversity and Wellbeing Forum. Most recently, Rupa delivered an interactive workshop at the Herald’s annual Diversity Conference. Outside of work, Rupa volunteers at the Glasgow Gurdwara every Sunday, teaching children aged 6-10 to read, write and speak Punjabi as well as being a mentor for the Prince’s Trust Mosaic programme – a programme which creates opportunities for young people growing up in Scotland’s most deprived communities.

Rupa was honoured to be a member of the Equality and Diversity Panel at the LSS annual conference last year. “The discussion was interesting and passionate – it’s clear that the legal profession is ready and willing for change. I am really looking forward to being a member of the LSS Equality and Diversity Committee and taking part in implementing such changes.”
