Yesterday (22 May 2018), MacRoberts was delighted to sponsor and take part in Scotland’s second annual Diversity Conference, held at the Radisson Blu in Glasgow.
The event, organised by The Herald and GenAnalytics in association with Standard Life Aberdeen, was attended by more than 200 individuals from the public, private, third and charity sectors.
Delegates heard about how greater diversity drives business performance and supports sustainable economic growth. Recent figures suggest individuals with a disability are less likely to be employed than able-bodied people, while ethnic minorities are still underrepresented in workplaces.
During the conference, MacRoberts’ HR Director Rupa Mooker hosted a breakout session alongside Alan Holmes of BAE systems on ‘Developing Your Diversity and Inclusion Strategy’. During the afternoon, Senior Marketing & Business Development Manager Gill Low took part in the Diverse Talent Panel, sharing her experiences of working with a disability.
Employment Partner Katy Wedderburn described the line-up of speakers as “extremely impressive” and said she had been looking forward to hearing about the initiatives that can help Scotland become a more diverse and welcoming country “for all to live and work in”.
