MacRoberts is delighted to support a Golf & Glamour Charity Lunch, hosted by a leading Ayrshire business group, to fund a unique project for Ayrshire Hospice.
The lunch, which is being organised by “Limited Edition Ladies” a group of like-minded businesswomen, will take place on Friday 23 February from 12.30pm at Lochgreen Hotel in Troon and will feature award winning comedienne and author, Jane Godley.
The event, which is hoping to attract both men and women, is aiming to raise enough money to install an all-weather putting green and a bowling green within the grounds of Ayrshire Hospice at Racecourse Road in Ayr.
Linda Miller, a Business Ambassador for the Ayrshire Hospice and a member of Limited Edition Ladies said, “Ayrshire is synonymous with golf and both golf and bowling are the two main pursuits many people attending the hospice have said they enjoy and miss, so it seemed a natural project to try and make possible.
“The lunch promises to be fantastic afternoon and we are hoping that businesses and the local community will get behind it to raise the £10,000 needed. We’ve had tremendous support from people already donating their time and skills and we are so grateful to them.”
Tickets for the lunch are priced at £55 (£500 for a table of ten) which includes a glass of bubbly on arrival, a three course meal and entertainment, and can be purchased by contacting Alice McKinlay.
Tracey Corrigan, Assistant Fundraising Manager from Ayrshire Hospice added, “This is a fantastic project that our patients and their families at the hospice will benefit greatly from. Maintaining hobbies and interests like golf and bowling is a vital part of the person-centred care we provide to patients, helping bring about numerous health and wellbeing improvements including maintaining independence, increased self-esteem and enhanced mobility. The support from the Limited Edition Ladies has been fabulous and we are extremely grateful for their support. To pull together the event in such a short space of time is a truly impressive feat and I have every confidence the lunch will be a great success, and get this visionary project off to a flying start!”
The Ayrshire Hospice provides outstanding care and support to help those with any life-limiting illness across Ayrshire and Arran. Care is provided where there is no cure for the condition, but which improves the quality of each day for people who have a limited time to live. The care provided by the Ayrshire Hospice is at no cost to the patient. However, it does require extensive, on-going fundraising support. During 2016-17, it cost almost £7.6 million to run all hospice services, equating to almost £21,000 per day. Of that £7.6 million, over £4.6 million was raised through voluntary donations alone.
