The UK Government has announced that a new law is expected today (30 July 2020) to ensure that furloughed employees receive statutory redundancy pay based on their normal wages, rather than a reduced furlough rate, from 31 July.

The Department for BEIS announcement also says that the changes will also apply to statutory notice pay, and that this will mean those furloughed under the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme are not short-changed if they are made redundant.

More detail in the legislation is expected today. In the meantime, our specialist Employment team is on hand to assist if you have any queries, so please do not hesitate to contact us.
