Senior Associate/Experienced Associate, Employment team (Glasgow) – 5yrs+ PQE

The Role

We currently have an opportunity for a Senior Associate or experienced Associate looking for progression to join the Employment team in our Glasgow office.  The successful candidate will report to the Head of the Employment Practice Group.

Key Responsibilities and Experience

The successful candidate will advise clients on a variety of contentious and non-contentious work.   They will represent clients in the Employment Tribunal and Employment Appeal Tribunal. They must demonstrate a strong knowledge of employment law.  They will also be expected to carry out corporate and projects support work as well as client training and be able to show excellent experience in these areas.

The successful candidate will also supervise less experienced members of the team and so mentoring and some management experience would be advantageous.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

In addition to being able to demonstrate excellent legal experience and commercial awareness, the successful candidate will require exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.  Applicants must be able to manage and prioritise a busy and varied workload, have an enthusiastic and successful approach to business development and enjoy working in a team environment.

Applicants must have a flexible approach to working in a fast paced team. Good problem solving, time management and excellent organisational skills are also essential.

Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm however flexibility is required to meet client demands.

Paralegal – Real Estate, Edinburgh

The Role

The successful candidate will support our fee earners in Real Estate and have the opportunity to be involved in a broad range of commercial real estate work including reviews of title, lease management transactions and secured lending transactions.

Experience, Essential Skills and Qualifications

Applicants must have sound commercial real estate experience together with experience in title examination, LBTT returns, Registers of Scotland applications and residential/plot sales. Any experience of English real estate work would be an advantage but is not essential.

In addition to being able to demonstrate relevant legal experience, the successful candidate will require excellent interpersonal and communication skills along with the ability to juggle a busy and varied workload. An enthusiastic and flexible approach to work is also required.

Law graduates will be considered.

Hours of Work

Core hours are Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm but the successful candidate shall be flexible in the hours of work.

Associate/Senior Associate (5yrs+ PQE), IP, Technology and Commercial (IPTC) – Glasgow

The Role

The successful candidate will be involved in working on competition law matters, commercial contracts and a range of intellectual property, information technology and information law activities including, for example, trade marks, patents, copyright, domain names, software contracts, data protection and freedom of information.

The businesses that the candidate will work with range across almost all industry sectors and in size range from start-up to international. The type of work is broad-ranging, stimulating and often innovative.

The successful candidate will also be involved in the preparation and delivery of training to clients and in networking activities generally. Commercial awareness is essential.

Education/Experience

Applicants should have the relevant post qualifying experience.

In addition to being able to demonstrate relevant legal expertise, the successful candidate will require excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Applicants must be able to juggle a busy and varied workload, have an enthusiastic approach to work and enjoy working in a team environment.

Applicants must also be able to demonstrate a proven ability to manage and run their day to day work with limited supervision.

Location

Primarily based in Glasgow the successful candidate may from time to time be required to work in our Dundee and Edinburgh office.

Residential Conveyancing Paralegal - Glasgow

The Role

The successful candidate will support and work closely with the fee earners in a small but very busy residential conveyancing team in Real Estate under the supervision of the Partner.  Working both independently and as part of the team, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to provide support in a broad range of transactions (sales, purchases, re-mortgages, title transfers).

Key Responsibilities

Duties in this role include negotiating residential Scottish standard missives, examinations of title, drafting dispositions, the completion of all LBTT and registration forms required pre and post-exchange and completions and undertaking searches. Dealing with correspondence between solicitors, lenders and clients and the preparation of client fee notes.
General administrative duties including photocopying, scanning, opening new client files, arranging client meetings and the preparation of legal documents as and when required.

Experience Required

Previous experience in processing conveyancing transactions in a similar role is essential.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

In addition to being able to demonstrate the relevant expertise as a conveyancing paralegal, the successful candidate will require excellent organisation skills, with the ability to work under pressure juggling a busy and varied workload.
