The Role

You will be a part of, and play a central role in the development of, the paralegal team within Yuill+Kyle – one of Scotland’s leading legal debt recovery practices. You will work alongside experienced colleagues in delivering a quality service to our existing client base. You will work on cases from their pre-litigation inception through to raising court action and enforcing decrees. You will also take part in our ongoing legal debt recovery education programme.

Yuill + Kyle is a part of MacRoberts LLP and is based in their offices in Glasgow’s International Financial Services District.

Key Responsibilities

As a Debt Recovery and Credit Control paralegal, you will be responsible for the following tasks and duties:

  • Pre sue collections to include telephone collections;
  • Raising court actions (both simple procedure and ordinary actions);
  • All aspects of diligence;
  • Use of a fully integrated legal debt recovery case management system; and
  • Liaising with clients to advise on the best course of action to maximise recoveries.

Key skills

We are looking for candidates to be able to demonstrate the following skills, qualities and experience:

  • Self-motivated with a good work ethic;
  • Ability to work as part of a team and also independently;
  • Willingness to learn and progress within the industry;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Bankruptcy and liquidation proceedings experience would be advantageous;
  • Having a paralegal certificate in Scottish debt recovery law would be advantageous.

Location and Hours of Work

Glasgow – Monday to Friday (9:00am – 5:00pm)

The Role

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will have responsibility for advising clients on a variety of transactions with an emphasis on merger and acquisition work and disposals.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

Consideration will be given to all candidates with experience in corporate law, though ideally at least one or two years’ corporate PQE experience is sought.

In addition to excellent communication and project management skills, the job holder should have the ability to deal confidently, professionally and sympathetically with clients on a day-to-day basis.

A vacancy has arisen within MacRoberts to join the IT team as an IT Service Desk Assistant.  The successful candidate will be involved in 1st and 2nd line IT support working in a professional services environment.

The Role

The role will be largely internal client facing dealing with software application support queries relating to business applications.  Many of these applications will be specific to the organisation and in-house training will be provided. It is essential that candidates have a good technical background, an enthusiasm for learning, excellent customer service skills and an ability to troubleshoot problems.

Key Responsibilities

  • To provide first line support to internal customers, assisting them with hardware, software, network and communications problems by phone, email and desk-side support;
  • To ensure all support calls and service requests are logged and administered using the appropriate service desk systems and working to agreed service levels;
  • To ensure support calls are escalated to the appropriate member of the internal/external team, using the agreed escalation procedures;
  • To provide user support to staff in remote offices, making site visits as required;
  • To assist with the administration of staff joining, leaving or moving within the organisation in relation to the creation of user accounts, password creation, email accounts and security access;
  • To assist with the installation of new hardware as required for new users or systems upgrades;
  • To assist with the maintenance of the asset register, ensuring all assets are tagged and accurately recorded in the register;
  • To assist with the administration, maintenance and provision of the organisations mobile working and telephone services;
  • To assist with the creation and maintenance of all documentation relating to Information Services procedures;
  • Have good knowledge of Microsoft operating systems and office products.

Education/Experience

Candidates must have gained at least a HNC/HND in a relevant subject along with a good working knowledge of Windows 10 operating systems, desktop hardware support and strong MS Office skills.

Location

Edinburgh, but frequent travel to offices in Glasgow and Dundee will also be required.

Hours of work

The IT department operate a shift system – Monday to Friday 8:00am-6:00pm. There will also be some out-of-hours/weekend work required.

The Role

The successful candidate will be NQ-5 years PQE working with the Real Estate team. The candidate will have an interesting and varied workload including acquisitions, disposals, leasing (acting for landlords and tenants), real estate finance work and the Scottish elements of cross-border portfolio transactions.

Experience/Education

In addition to excellent communication and project management skills, applicants should have previous experience in real estate work with the ability to deal confidently and professionally with clients on day-to-day issues. Applicants will be expected to manage a busy and varied workload with an enthusiastic approach to work and enjoy working in a team environment. Experience of English property transactions would be an advantage but not essential.

We currently have an opportunity for a Solicitor or experienced paralegal to join a small friendly team of real estate lawyers working on English commercial property transactions.

The Role

The successful candidate will handle an interesting and varied caseload including acquisitions and disposals of Commercial Property leasing (acting for landlords and tenants) and real estate finance work. The appointment will be for an initial fixed term of 6 months but there is the opportunity for this to become a permanent position for the right candidate.

Skills and Experience

We are interested in hearing from lawyers of any PQE with experience of English property work. In addition to excellent communication and project management skills, applicants should have previous experience in real estate work with the ability to deal confidently and professionally with clients on day to day issues. Applicants will be expected to manage a busy and varied workload with an enthusiastic approach to work and enjoy working in a team environment.

Location

The Role

Key Responsibilities

The type of work is broad ranging, stimulating and often innovative. The successful candidate will also be involved in the preparation and delivery of research and training from time to time and in networking activities generally.  Commercial awareness is essential.

Experience Required

Applicants should have a minimum of 2 years PQE, dealing with all aspects of Private Client work including Wills, Probate, Trusts, Charities, Powers of Attorney and general client facing instructions preferably gained within a similarly reputable Private Client department. The ideal candidate would be able to work with the minimum supervision.
