Norman Martin, Partner

Head of Banking & Finance, Norman Martin, has advised clients on corporate and property finance for over 20 years. He is the lead Partner on many of our panel appointments for banks and other financial institutions and is regarded, by both clients and others, as one of Scotland’s leading banking specialists. Norman has a good working relationship with banks and other financial institutions, both in Scotland and beyond and, in addition to transactional work, regularly advises them on non-transactional banking and other finance matters.

Roddy Maclennan, Partner

Roddy Maclennan has more than 30 years’ experience in acting for lenders, loan services and other stakeholders in relation to real estate related senior and mezzanine debt and corporate finance and offers great expertise in structured finance with many of his deals being syndicated and, previously securitised. Roddy acts for all of the UK clearing banks as well as for building societies, and European and US banks.

John Crawford, Partner

John has over 30 years experience of dealing with all aspects of property finance and commercial property transactions.

He has wide experience of security transactions acting for both Banks and Financial Institutions and for borrower clients in relation to all types of commercial property.

  • Providing Scottish assistance via the lead legal advisers (a Magic Circle firm) for the lenders in connection with a $250m term loan facility and £150m revolving credit facility to a Scottish borrower in relation to share acquisition.


  • Worked with a Scottish bank across a range of acquisition finance transactions in the commercial bank space.
  • Acted for a UK bank in relation to a national hotel group connection.


  • Acting for a property developer in the entering into of bank facilities with Santander for the purchase and development of property and the refinancing of costs related to the wider project.
