About Us Professional Fees

Under the Law Society of Scotland's new price transparency guidance, MacRoberts is required to publish pricing information in relation to certain services that we provide. This is so that potential clients can make an informed choice when selecting MacRoberts to represent their interests.

House Purchase & Sale

For residential property sales and purchases, MacRoberts has standard fees which are followed.

We are transparent by providing a fixed fee for our professional services and this is detailed in our Letter of Engagement. In some instances, the fee will be agreed in advance, for example, if we are asked to provide a Quotation for Services.

Powers of Attorney

A Power of Attorney allows a nominated individual to make decisions for you if and when you are no longer able or willing to do so yourself.

With a Power of Attorney, you can choose a loved one or close friend to help make decisions for you about money, health or both. It can be set up while you are still willing and able to make your own decisions and would only become 'active' when you decide, along with your lawyer or after medical advice. Powers of Attorney can only be registered by a lawyer or medical professional.

Executry Administration

Various factors can affect the complexity of estate administration work. It is therefore difficult to predict at the outset what may be involved in the administration of a particular estate and to provide a definitive estimate of our charges for all the work involved.

Unless we agree alternative arrangements with you in writing, the charges for our services will therefore be based on the time spent on the matter at our hourly rates of between £170 to £350 plus VAT.

Employment

We are a commercial law firm and primarily advise and represent employers, however, in some cases we do act for individuals and so this information is provided to promote price transparency by publishing our pricing information in a way that is easily accessible, prominent and understandable for individual clients as consumers.

Varying complexity and circumstances of an individual’s legal matters makes it difficult to provide set prices. The intent and purpose of this is to provide a general idea as to cost, not to publish a binding price. We are can provide estimates for particular pieces of work, on request so long as sufficient information and if requested documentation is provided by the client for us to do so.

The most typical services we provide to individual consumers for advice in employment law are advice on Settlement Agreements and bringing Employment Tribunal Claims.
