MacRoberts is a law firm where you can really make your mark. Let us be part of your success.
At MacRoberts, our goal is for our clients and staff to feel included, valued and nurtured within their business environment irrespective of their race, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, age, physical abilities, religious beliefs, political beliefs, or other ideologies. Our aim is for all at MacRoberts to believe that diversity is good for our clients, good for our people and good for our firm.
We have a dedicated Diversity and Wellbeing Group which is driven by a diverse group of staff from all areas and levels of the firm. They act as diversity ambassadors within the different diversity strands and enjoy full management board buy-in and engagement.
A recent MacRoberts staff survey conducted with GenAnalytics revealed 72% of respondents indicated that they are comfortable in discussing equality, diversity and inclusion at work and 87% of all respondents believe that MacRoberts is an employer that is welcoming to everyone regardless of race, religion, belief, marital status, age, sexual orientation, disability or background.
Mental health is integral to an individual’s health and wellbeing and can have a huge impact on their working life. As a sector associated with long hours, stress and no regular work pattern, the legal profession has not been highly regarded in prioritising mental health, with the Law Society of Scotland highlighting that one in five solicitors will face a mental health condition at some point in their career. There remains an attitude that these conditions are something which is to be expected, and therefore tolerated, in a legal environment, however not seeking or being provided with the right support can impact on an individual’s long term as well as short term health.
The mental health of each member of our staff is therefore of paramount importance to us and we endeavour to ensure that our staff are happy, healthy and productive.
Here are some ways that we do this:
We are also in the process of introducing mental health first aiders to support our employees. With awareness around mental health increasing significantly over the last few years, fortunately more resources are now available to those that seek further information and guidance.

We are delighted that MacRoberts LLP have joined the Stonewall Scotland Diversity Champions Programme to demonstrate their commitment to championing lesbian, gay, bi and trans equality in the workplace. We are excited to work with MacRoberts over the coming months to help support their LGBT inclusion activities, to ensure that all LGBT people at work are accepted without exception.”Caroline Gillwood, Stonewall Scotland
