We are committed to delivering a collaborative and inclusive culture that supports our people to do their best work every day. We believe that supporting our people to bring their whole, authentic self to work makes us a better organisation for our colleagues and our clients.

We strive to create a diverse and inclusive workplace where everyone is respected and can thrive. From flexible working to client engagement, from learning and development to our remuneration policy, we focus on what matters to our people.

Investing in our people is a priority for us, and we want to nurture talent and enable our people to reach their full potential. Our firm promotes a collaborative and supportive culture, creating the ideal environment for you to flourish and produce your best work.

Diversity, inclusion and belonging

We celebrate diversity and inclusion. We are all different, with unique perspectives, and embracing this makes us a better organisation for both our people and our clients. That’s why we are committed to building an inclusive culture, where you can bring your whole, authentic self to work.

For our business to thrive and for us to reach our ambitions, we depend on having diverse talent with a range of backgrounds, skills and capabilities. We see diversity as a key driver for business growth, and our values, purpose and standards set the conditions for us to respect the unique contribution each person brings.

Breaking barriers

Amongst our talented people are opinion formers, thought leaders, mould-breakers and decision-makers, all working together to grow our firm and help our clients solve problems and achieve results.

As part of our commitment to breaking barriers and ensuring that a career in the legal profession is accessible to all, we have established partnerships with a number of leading Scottish and UK organisations, including Black Professionals Scotland, Whizz-Kids and PRIME. We also offer a modern apprenticeship programme, and use the RARE contextual recruitment system in our trainee recruitment process. We are proud members of The 30% Club, which aims to boost the number of women in board seats and executive leadership positions, and are signatories to the Mindful Business Charter and the Armed Forces Covenant.

Supporting one another

The wellbeing of our people is of paramount importance to us, and we endeavour to ensure that our people are happy, healthy and productive. We offer mental health awareness training for all staff, Mental Health First Aiders, regular bake sales, online exercise classes, walk and cycle to work schemes, CSR days, career breaks and access to a confidential counselling service.

We offer a wide range of benefits to our people, including pension contributions and life assurance, health and wellbeing programmes, generous annual leave, a holiday purchase plan, enhanced sick pay and family-friendly pay. We reward success appropriately, and offer discretionary pay awards based on performance, assessing individual performance against our core values and annual and long-term financial and non-financial objectives.

Mentoring and education

Many of our people spend time educating and mentoring the next generation of solicitors, and we support a number of educational institutions through tutoring, lecturing and examining.

We also work with mentorship programmes through MCR pathways, the Law Society of Scotland, Napier University Scheme and WiRES and Very Impressive People.
