In the current economic and political climate, community organisations are playing an increasingly important role in the Scottish economy. Whether they are:
- contracting with the public sector to provide key services to a local community,
- engaging with a windfarm or hydro-power operator to share some of the financial benefit of the development,
- developing their own renewable energy project,
- investing in the community through a community buy-out, or
- establishing a community-backed-regeneration initiative,
the role of community backed commercial initiatives is increasingly being recognised.
Made up of experienced practitioners from among our Third Sector, Real Estate, Corporate, Planning, Environment, Banking, Corporate Tax and Energy Groups, our Community Enterprise Unit is able to deliver co-ordinated and specialised advice to all community organisations and those who engage with them.
Whether you are looking for advice on how to structure or grow your community organisaton, looking to develop your own community energy project (or take a stake in another renewable project) or a CDFI or other lender looking for advice in connection with lending to a community organisation, we will be able to provide you with practical and straightforward advice. We recognise that community bodies come in a great variety of shapes and sizes; by combining our experience from across our various Groups, we are able to offer a service that will best ensure the aims of the community organisation are met - whatever its size and shape.
