She has considerable experience in the drafting and negotiating of contracts for the exploitation and protection of intellectual property and regularly advises on the drafting and negotiation of a wide range of ICT and commercial contracts.
Valerie regularly provides advice to both public bodies and commercial entities on compliance with and utilisation of current freedom of information legislation.
With a background in management within the social care sector prior to becoming a solicitor Valerie is an active member of the MacRoberts Third Sector Group advising on Charity law, and particularly Compliance and Regulatory matters.
She regularly writes articles and legal e-updates in the areas of IP protection and exploitation, anti-corruption legislation, data protection and information security, speaks at external seminars and podcasts on these areas and provides tailored training to clients in these areas.
Valerie has a Masters degree in Information Technology and Telecommunications law from the University of Strathclyde.
