I have been with MacRoberts for almost 6 years and continue to very much enjoy my role given the great working environment. The variety of the work that I undertake is what I enjoy the most. I am also very lucky that my team are such a great bunch! There is a heavy focus on team work and the more senior fee earners and partners are always very approachable, supportive and willing to share their own expertise and experiences. The firm is very committed to the training and development of its staff which is delivered in many different ways.
I have worked at MacRoberts for over ten years. During that time I have been involved in a broad spectrum of work. Although based in Edinburgh, I work closely with colleagues in all departments throughout our three offices. I have been given opportunities to increase my experience, as well as work which covers more familiar territory, and have never felt unable to ask colleagues for information or advice. Doors are open, and everyone is happy to share knowledge and experience. I am actively involved in the firm’s CSR efforts and am grateful for the support of the firm as a whole which facilitates our efforts, be they giving time, fundraising or taking part in activities.
I started with MacRoberts in 2009, moving into our new offices at the Capella Building in 2010. What a wonderful change to be in purpose built offices with everything new. The working environment is stunning to see and a pleasure to work in. All the staff from Partners to cleaners are great to work with. Everyone works hard and it is such a friendly atmosphere. You are always made to feel part of the team. MacRoberts is a great place to work and it’s good to go to work each day.
I joined MacRoberts almost two years ago to do my traineeship. My experience with the firm has been excellent and I look forward to continuing my career with MacRoberts as a qualified solicitor. As a trainee I have had the opportunity to assist in interesting high quality work in various departments. I’ve also come to appreciate the considerable amount of support and training invested in all fee earners, not just trainees. There is a social aspect to MacRoberts – the team-based approach to working, various social events and the Friday morning rolls make all the difference.
I have been at MacRoberts for 7 years and clearly remember my first day. After HR induction I was handed over to the gentleman I was replacing (he was due to retire in a few months) and he proved a great help in settling me into MacRoberts. MacRoberts is a friendly place to work and much less intimidating than other law firms, it is a place where it is easy to settle in. No two days are the same and I enjoy the variety my role offers.
I joined MacRoberts in 2013 with the formation of the Dundee Office. During my time at MacRoberts I have worked closely with a wide range of colleagues from all departments across all three offices. MacRoberts encourages a unique collaborative team approach to working, with all team members actively pulling together to ensure clients get the best possible service. With supportive backroom teams in place in IT, Finance and Admin, everyone is there to support you in your journey. The MacRoberts values play a key role in the running of the firm, these values flow directly from the Partners who value the staff and understand they are the heartbeat of the firm. MacRoberts is excellent at providing opportunities to advance existing skill sets and gain new ones for all members of staff and I look forward to continuing and progressing my career with MacRoberts.
I joined MacRoberts just over a year ago as part of the Secretarial Team in Edinburgh. It has been a steep learning curve and an excellent experience for me as I have previously never worked in an office environment. My role also included any reception and catering requirements when needed. I found that this enabled me to further get to know the solicitors in particular more quickly. Everyone I have met has been friendly, approachable and helpful. Working within the team has been a valuable experience as it has given me an insight to the various aspects/expectations within a law firm. Working within the team has also given me a wide range of experience as to what happens within the individual departments. The social aspects within MacRoberts are varied and generally cater for all, giving everyone a chance to unwind and get to know one another better.
I started with MacRoberts in 2009, and joined the Pensions Group upon completion of my traineeship. Beginning life as a newly-qualified solicitor wasn’t daunting in the slightest: in each of the trainee seats I had undertaken, I always felt that I could approach a colleague for input or assistance – something which, from talking to peers, doesn’t always seem to be the case at other law firms. People here are supportive, friendly and challenge you to improve all the time. You are encouraged to take the initiative in developing opportunities and relationships with business contacts, and the firm will support your efforts to raise your profile in the business community wherever possible. I like the fact that we really can help our clients through every stage in the business journey, through the breadth of the services we offer. It is a great feeling to know that we can make a difference.
I commenced my traineeship in 2001 and have worked here since. One of the main reasons for that is that I like the people I work with. My colleagues are not only down to earth, friendly and approachable but are excellent at what they do. During my career, I have had the opportunity to work on a challenging and wide range of matters, which has allowed me to benefit and learn from experts in various other departments of MacRoberts.
